A promise of quality: how we created The Oath as a unique identity across their ranges

The Oath is a new range of premium wines that will showcase major varieties from classic Australian regions.

Created by Barlow & Co, the name and concept was inspired by the Australian “bloody oath” – a solemn promise of exceptional quality.

Crafted with over 100 years of winemaking heritage, this precious knowledge is represented by the gold padlock and handwritten ‘Oath’ that feature on each bottle.

The brief to Barlow & Co. was to create a visually striking and premium-feeling wine brand that celebrates quality and avoids Aussie clichés.

The range has been launched in Majestic Wine stores across the UK with four varietals, including Chardonnay and Shiraz from Barossa, a cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc and a rich red blend.

‘Bloody oath’

In Australian slang, “bloody oath” is an expression used to convey strong agreement or affirmation of the truth.

A Promise of Quality

An oath is a solemn promise: one that cannot be broken or changed. The Oath is our promise to uphold exceptional quality in every bottle of wine – the result of over 100 years’ experience of winemaking. This precious knowledge is key to delivering heritage and provenance in every glass.

Barlow & Co. worked closely with our Australian print supplier to achieve the best finish and detail. The padlock and key, printed and embossed in rich gold foil, are a symbol of The Oath’s dedication to quality.

Barlow & Co. ensured that The Oath guarantees excellence in every detail, from the ornate padlock on the label to the keyhole on the cap, and the motto “A Promise of Quality” that is featured on every bottle.

The Oath is a promise to uphold exceptional quality in every bottle – the result of over a century of winemaking experience. Every detail of The Oath’s brand and packaging design symbolises this unbreakable commitment to craftsmanship.
